NAMEPA Expands US West Coast Presence as The Port of Los Angeles and Marine Exchange of Southern California Join as New Members
August 7, 2019 – Carleen Lyden Walker, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the North
American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA), announced today that The Port of Los Angeles and Marine Exchange of Southern California have joined NAMEPA as the depth and breadth of NAMEPA membership continues to grow.
Walker remarked, “It is an honor to welcome both The Port of LA and Marine Exchange of Southern California as members of NAMEPA and expanding our US West Coast presence.
This demonstrates their commitment to protecting the marine environment, and as champions who share similar values and goals to Save Our Seas. Their support for our mission helps our efforts to promote best practices.”

The Port of Los Angeles is one of the world’s busiest seaports and leading gateway for international trade in the Western Hemisphere. A major economic driver at the local, regional, and national levels, the Port of Los Angeles is a key generator of jobs, commerce and tourism in Southern California. The Marine Exchange of Southern California, in partnership with Federal / U.S. Coast Guard, State, and Local government agencies, is the leading provider of vessel traffic and maritime information related services in Southern California.
The Marine Exchange is a private, nonprofit 501c(6) organization that works continuously to anticipate and fully meet the maritime information needs, communications needs, and vessel traffic requirements necessary to promote a safe, secure, efficient, reliable, and environmentally sound maritime transportation system.
