DATE: April 21, 2012 – COUNTRY: Singapore – PORT: Singapore – Construction of mega shipyard at Tuas View Extension

The working period has been extended for construction works for the mega shipyard at Tuas View Extension.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.50 of 2012, the works will be conducted between 0700 and 1900 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – from 25 April to 24 October, within the  working area bounded  by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

  • A) 01° 15.230’N / 103° 36.720’E
  • B) 01° 15.230’N / 103° 36.340’E
  • C) 01° 14.480’N / 103° 36.340’E
  • D) 01° 14.480’N / 103° 36.760’E
  • E) 01° 15.180’N / 103° 36.760’E
  • F) 01° 15.180’N / 103° 36.720’E

Construction of the mega shipyard will entail removal of existing rock revetment, placing of rock revetment, removal of cofferdam sheet pile and installation of spun pile. A safety boat will be in attendance throughout the duration of the construction works to warn other craft of the works in the vicinity.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

  • (a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
  • (b) Maintain a proper lookout;
  • (c) Proceed at a safe speed & navigate with caution;
  • (d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF channel 22 (Jurong Control); and
  • (e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF 22 for assistance, if required.

The working area and working period have been revised for the reclamation of Tuas View Extension.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s Port Marine Notice No.48 of 2012, the work will be conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – from 28 April to 27 October, within a working area bounded by the following coordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

  • A) 01° 16.762’N / 103° 38.512’E
  • B) 01° 16.603’N / 103° 38.496’E    (Yellow Pillar/Fl Y 6s)
  • C) 01° 16.313’N / 103° 38.475’E    (Yellow Pillar/Fl Y 4s)
  • D) 01° 16.062’N / 103° 38.455’E
  • E) 01° 15.851’N / 103° 38.412’E
  • F) 01° 15.570’N / 103° 37.820’E    (Yellow Pillar/Fl Y 4s)
  • G) 01° 15.280’N / 103° 37.230’E    (Yellow Pillar/Fl Y 2s)
  • H) 01° 15.060’N / 103° 36.760’E
  • I) 01° 15.180’N / 103° 36.760’E

Approved craft will be involved in the construction of a seawall. The craft will also be deployed to carry out piling, dredging and reclamation works in the working area.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

  • (a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
  • (b) Maintain a proper look-out;
  • (c) Proceed at a safe speed;
  • (d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22; and
  • (e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for any assistance, if required.
