DATE: January 30, 2013 COUNTRY: Brazil PORT: Santos – Possible stevedores’ strike
According to local media reports, the stevedores’ union at Santos Port is planning to go on strike from 4 February.
This is in response to the government plan to change law that obliges companies to hire stevedores from the national port workers organisation (OGMO).
If approved, the new law would allow private terminals to hire their own workforce.
