The International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Campaign is the largest voluntary activity of its kind, in which hundreds of thousands of volunteers across 100 countries around the world complete beaches and underwater area clean-ups.
As coordinator of the campaign throughout Greece, HELMEPA is this year once again announcing the Month of Action for the Marine Environment between September 21 and October 21 and invites member-companies and HELMEPA Junior members, Port and Municipal Authorities, entities and environmentally conscious citizens throughout the country to organize their own cleanup of either a local beach and/or a section of the seabed.
The procedure is simple:
- Choose the beach you wish to clean in a group with your colleagues, family or friends, complete the participation form and return it to HELMEPA.
- HELMEPA will send you guidelines and relevant material (posters and data cards) electronically.
- Your cleanup activity will be registered on the campaign’s web-map and will be announced on HELMEPA’s Facebook page to notify other keen enthusiasts who may want to join in.
- Following your cleanup, send HELMEPA some photographs to post on our Facebook page, along with the completed data cards. These data regarding amounts and types of marine litter, contribute substantially to the scientific research carried out towards solving this global issue.
Wherever participants wish to separate recyclables from common litter items, the Hellenic Recovery-Recycling Corporation (HE.R.R.Co.), which for the second consecutive year is supporting the campaign, will arrange for their collection.
For further information and/or to receive a printed copy of the registration form, please contact HELMEPA’s Environmental Awareness Sector on +30 210-9343088 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Let’s keep our favourite beaches litter-free, so boasting their natural beauty!
