The Energy Developments in South-East Mediterranean Conference was a great success.

As promised, we bring you herebelow a small briefing from the organisers on this crucial conference which was held last week at the Hellenic Centre in London. At the end of this briefing you can log on the links so that you see some of the sessions which took place and representatives of our London team have attended and wrote about.

The ‘Energy Developments in South-East Mediterranean’ Conference was held on 20th–21st September at the Hellenic Centre, London. The event was jointly organised by the Research Centre for Energy Management (RCEM) at ESCP Europe, City University London and Holman Fenwick Willan LLP, with the support of the Greek Energy Forum, Natural Gas Europe and The Energy Institute.

The meeting provided an excellent platform for government representatives, international organisations, financial institutions, energy corporations, law firms and top energy experts to discuss the current challenges and opportunities of the Energy industry in South-Eastern Europe. Attendees shared crucial insights about where the energy market is heading in the region.

Dr. Kostas Andriosopoulos, Director of the RCEM, and Prof. Dinos Arcoumanis, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, City University London and Ambassador-at-Large of the Hellenic Republic for Energy Policy and New Technologies, welcomed participants and delivered the opening remarks.

The RCEM is delighted to share the following key facts regarding our successful event:

  • 150 energy professionals met at the conference to share their knowledge and exchange ideas.
  • More than 40 high calibre top energy experts delivered outstanding presentations. Among our distinguished speakers we had the participation of Dr. Yannis Maniatis (Minister of the Environment, Energy & Climate Change, Hellenic Republic) and Nicos Kouyialis(Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, Republic of Cyprus).
  • Participants benefited from hearing the latest government efforts to support the growth of the energy industry in the region.
  • Senior representatives from the leading energy companies, financial institutions and research institutes located in the region revealed crucial insights regarding their successful operations.
  • A thought-provoking conference, this event gave representatives from the most prestigious energy organisations, universities and business schools in the UK the opportunity to participate in a stimulating event.
