Proposed cut to fairway dues 2015-2017
Finland’s Ministry of Transport and Communication has proposed cutting
fairway dues by 50% to compensate for increased cost burden of meeting
tightening fuels sulfur regulations (ECA).
The new Fairway Dues Act is yet to be confirmed by the Finnish parliament
but, in her speech at the Finnish Shipbroker’s association annual meeting
this month, Council Piia Karjalainen from the Ministry’s maritime strategy
task force considered the reduction as very likely scenario in 2015.
GAC Finland will keep its principals up to date and inform immediately once
the proposition is legally valid.
