Reload Greece will host its second conference in London, at the Hellenic Centre, on March 29th, 2014. This year’s conference theme, “Empowering the Global Community”, will highlight the role that the global community can play in shaping the future of a developing economy. Looking at “Connected Models”, models that are global in their location or approach, yet deliver impact in Greece, the conference will showcase new ways in which we can all make an impact in Greece either from home or abroad. The one-day conference is expected to draw 250 aspiring entrepreneurs, mentors, investors and anyone who wants to see a positive change in Greece.
Drawing from the success of people who are already using such models, the conference makes a strong case for the advantages of undertaking a venture or social impact project not in spite of its connection to Greece but because of it. Manos Sifakis’ customedialabs with headquarters in the US and an operating branch in Larissa- Greece, is a perfect visualization of the impact that Reload Greece aspires to promote. Attendees will have the chance to participate in interactive workshops, where they will discover the useful tools and resources that can help them make an impact on an international level. This impact can take many forms such as job creation, increased Greek exports or the promotion of Greek culture in general.
Markos Kiosseoglou, co-founder and General Manager of Reload Greece said, “Running for more than a year now, it’s become clear to us that Reloaders are looking for ways to connect and help Greece. Therefore, we are delighted to host our second conference and portray to our audience how we can all start ‘Empowering the Global Community’ today in order to ‘Reload Greece’ tomorrow!
The program will feature presentations by a selected group of distinguished speakers and experts, including Nikos Stathopoulos from The Hellenic Initiative, Luis Jeronimo, project manager of “Ideias De Origem Portuguesa”, a project funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Stathis Haikalis, Co-Founder of UpGreekTourism, Steve Vranakis, Executive Creative Director at Google Creative Lab and Periklis Papadopoulos, NASA astrophysicist. Please find the programme of the Conference here.
In preparation for the event, Steve Vranakis, said “It’s amazing to see that despite everything going on around them this team of passionate and talented individuals has come together (mostly as volunteers) to do what they can for both Greece and Greeks, even if it means operating from outside the country.”
