TradeWinds Events – Aug 19, 2014 09:40 BST

TradeWinds is teaming up with the Malaysia Offshore Support Vessel Owners’ Association (OSV MALAYSIA) to bring the annual event Offshore Marine Asia to Kuala Lumpur on October 21st.

With $20 Billion estimated to be spent on new offshore Oil & Gas initiatives and around $15 Billion on enhancing oil recovery from existing fields, Malaysia is leading the way in oil exploration in South East Asia. The move to host city Kuala Lumpur is a logical and timely step for Offshore Marine Asia 2014, building on the success of the annual event held previously in Singapore.

Organised by TradeWinds in partnership with OSV MALAYSIA, Offshore Marine Asia will bring vessel users, providers, builders, financiers, and service providers together to discuss the global and regional picture, and drill down into the issues of operating in South East Asia.

Dr Jamal Bin Yusof, President of OSV MALAYSIA said “TradeWinds is the world’s biggest shipping news provider covering all aspects of shipping, focusing especially on news related to owners and the commercial side of the industry. They have collaborated with many international players to organise forums and events worldwide and we applaud and fully support their initiative”.

“This is an exciting development for Offshore Marine Asia” commented Mike Porter, Events Consultant for TradeWinds. “We have been encouraged by the strong support both nationally and regionally to bring this established event to Kuala Lumpur and are delighted to be working closely with OSV MALAYSIA. The event, entitled ‘Beyond the Horizon’,  will explore new opportunities especially in South East Asia, expanding boundaries beyond ‘the norm’, and addressing the call for owners to invest in more sophisticated vessels to meet demand and to compete on equal terms in a maturing global market”.

Sponsors of Offshore Marine Asia include ABS, Allianz Marine, M3 Marine and Wärtsilä whilst Industry bodies IMCA and BIMCO lend their official support.
