GAC 01072014Grain inspections of vessels considered “high risk” for Ebola
October 27, 2014, United States, all ports

The US Coast Guard (USCG) and US Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) are actively vetting all vessels arriving which have previously visited a port in a country where the Ebola virus is present.

If a vessel is determined to be ‘high risk’; the USCG and USCBP will take actions appropriate to quarantine/isolate the vessel and its crew. US Department of Agriculture (USDA) grain inspectors will not board the vessel while it is isolated.

Only when the vessel and its crew are determined to be safe by the appropriate health officials AND when the vessel is officially cleared by the USCG/USCBP may USDA grain inspectors board the vessel.
