ABPmer to advise Wightlink on proposed ferry upgrade

ABPABP Marine Environmental Research Ltd (ABPmer), a leading marine consultancy, has been appointed by Wightlink Ferries to provide specialist environmental advice for their proposed upgrade of the Fishbourne – Portsmouth Gunwharf ferry service.

Wightlink wish to improve their service from Portsmouth to the Isle of Wight by undertaking terminal improvements works and introducing a new purpose-built environmentally friendly ferry, capable of carrying over 1000 passengers at a time.

ABPmer will provide advice to Wightlink regarding the environmental implications of the proposed service upgrade, and will be supporting their planning application by preparing the marine chapters for the impact assessments and consenting documents.

Colin Scott, Project Director said: “We are delighted to be helping Wightlink with their ‘Investing for the Future’ project. We are extremely experienced in supporting projects of this type and guiding them through the planning and consenting stages. We have undertaken numerous studies in the Solent and have previously helped Wightlink with the upgrade to their Lymington – Yarmouth route. We look forward to applying our knowledge to this project.”

ABPmer regularly produces Environmental Statements and Appropriate Assessments for the marine sector and its expertise has supported a variety of industry sectors in acquiring marine consents and associated licences to successfully realise a development.
