A view from the New National Stadium during the ceremony
One of the best ever South East Asian games, the 28th ones, which begun on the 5th of June, closed down last night in Singapore, one of the world’s biggest shipping and financial centres, the city-nation to watch due to its overall achievements. These sporting events took place in Singapore’s New National Stadium which we saw last year during our visit in South East Asia. Our Singapore envoy writes:
The organisation from all aspects was more than excellent, extraordinary is the… catch-word! A very emotional speech by SEA Games Federation president Tan Chuan-Jin, with Singapore’s President Tony Tan after this speech, declaring the games over!

Fireworks fireworks, spectacular fireworks!
Amongst all these sporting events the sea-wise ones where very competitive and attracted many competitors as well as spectators. Singapore won the water polo final being the 26th consecutive title!
The closing ceremony was more than unique with fire-works and all that makes the Far East mysterious, attractive and magnificent!
Thailand finished first in gold medals followed by the host nation Singapore; a great achievement!
It was the second time in 22 years that Singapore staged the Games; next time the event will take place …next door in Kuala Lumpur. It will be the 29th SEA Games, so get ready for an extra sporty extravaganza!
The HBNA (Hellenic Business Network Association) in Singapore supported the event too and the pictures herein are credited to them!
