Coral survey & translocation northeast of airport and at Yam Tsai Wan

For a period of approximately 30 months, coral survey and translocation will be carried out within the following areas:WORKS AREA 1:
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 deg. 19.330’N / 113 deg. 55.672’E
(B) 22 deg. 19.504’N / 113 deg. 55.658’E
(C) 22 deg. 19.593’N / 113 deg. 56.692’E
(D) 22 deg. 19.426’N / 113 deg. 56.694’EWORKS AREA 2:
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (E) to (J) and the adjacent shoreline:
(E) 22 deg. 19.577’N / 114 deg. 00.685’E
(F) 22 deg. 19.585’N / 114 deg. 00.584’E
(G) 22 deg. 19.742’N / 114 deg. 00.639’E
(H) 22 deg. 19.803’N / 114 deg. 01.004’E
(I) 22 deg. 20.046’N / 114 deg. 01.135’E
(J) 22 deg. 20.024’N / 114 deg. 01.191’E

The works will be carried out by two work boats. A working area of approximately 30 metres around each work boat will be established.

The hours of work will be from 0800 to 1730 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will not stay in the works areas outside the hours of work.

Diving operations will be carried out from time to time during the hours of work.

Vessel engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution, bearing in mind there are divers working in the works areas.

One guard boat will provide assistance.The works will be carried out by the survey vessel travelling at a speed of about 3 knots and with a horizontal metallic survey coil of approximately 20 metres in diameter deploying from the bow of the vessel into the water.

The hours of work will be from 0130 to 0630 hours and 0900 to 1700 hours daily. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.

Oil terminal pier out of operation

Pier No.2 at Sheskharis Oil Terminal was taken out of operation yesterday (18 August) for reconstruction and technical maintenance. The works are expected to take about 12 months and should be completed by the end of August 2017.The pier was designed for loading tankers with DWT from 40000 up to 89999 t (Aframax). During the time that it will be out of service, the terminal plans to handle Aframax range tankers at the new pier (jetty) No.1A where the main restrictions/requirements are as follows:

  • DWT from 80,000 up to 162,000 t
  • Ship’s LOA from 232 up to 280 m
  • Ship’s Beam from 42 up to 50 m
  • Parallel Body length minimum 105 m
  • Maximum draft alongside the jetty 23,4 m
  • Maximum draft on the approaching channel 19 m
  • Minimum freeboard 4,8 m
  • Average loadrate required 9,000 mt/hour
