The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) was down just four points earlier on today at 860; Geopolitics though are heading for a messy war in the South East Med and its periphery; John Faraclas daily recap:
The Capers were only one point down with the BCI 2014 standing at 1,970 points!
The Panamaxes’ BPI lost eight and now reads 705 points…
The Supras’ BSI stranded at 681, and
The Handies’ BHSI lost two points now reading 417.
Hope that the situation stabilises as, if it continues, it will be bad news for all. We reiterate the view that only a minimum of 2,000 points can alleviate the dry market pains… Having said that, we need to see a control of the transport trade; without some sort of regulation, things will go worse and we will be faced with incalculable repercurrsions. It is us, the humans so to speak, to blame for… this is not a hurricane nor an earthquake… Wake up and come to your senses as will not only come down to your knees; you will be finished off!
The Box trade continues to be another major problem in a market which despite the global recession has 10.45 billion tonnes of cargo to move, with containers forming needs of 20 centum, yet the markets continues to plunge… Many listed companies are in tatters; caution, as the Hanjin effect might, as per our estimation, bring a couple of more falls…
The Wets too on a falling modus; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and the BCTI (Cleans) stood at 622 and 349 points (that’s minus three for both) respectively.
The price of WTI stood just above the US$ 49…to be precise US$ 49.19 and this upwards development can have other implications.
In the geopolitical front, the MIGRANTS despicable saga continues in all fronts; on the ground where it takes place and in the corridors of “power”; one thing is for sure though: hard-core Nemesis for those who intentionally do not stop this inhumane case affecting over a billion people (make your calculations too and you will see why).
Greece, Italy, and Malta are the main countries affected; Turkey on purpose creates this environment blackmailing all of its own purpose. Moreover, its leaders dispute international treaties and the very fact that Greece’s frontiers/land and sea once are also the frontiers of Europe, tells you the hypo of Brussels… Erdogan is capable of every sinister action and he must be stopped.
The war in Syria involving many nations is building up worryingly and we will not be surprised to see the mess spilling over. It seems that Russia is adamant in defending its vested interests in Syria. The target was ISIS and “continues” to be, unless it will become another Vietnam or Afghanistan… The USA must reason with the situation and use its own war machine to get rid of ISIS or the Americans MUST cooperate with Russia, otherwise expect mess and only mess. We are sending a message to all leaders to stop mickey-mouse about. We dead well know what’s up.
In Greece, the political turmoil is getting worse; time for an ARISTOS Government! The Greek islands cannot sustain any further wrong handling of the MIGRANTS issue. Being an islander and in particular emanating from Chios, it really hurts of what is happening, of what we have seen over the last two years, hence we use a tough language… Enough or else! It is entirely all of Greece’s political parties to blame, as what they do, is only to get voters… in the “forthcoming” elections… I am just hinting that if the Attorney general in Greece makes a thorough check of why the migrants are not appropriately handled with the utmost humane way etc etc, many from the government in Athens will end behind bars! Shame guys! On top of everything else, and this serves as a warning, next time round the pensioners are attacked with chemicals by the police, we will demand the entire governments resignation; hope they don’t do it again! Shame yet again!
BREXIT will send shocking waves all over Planet Ocean, but at the end of the day it will prove, believe you me, more than beneficial for the British people and the Commonwealth. Those who attended today’s London Wealth Forums & Safe Havens Conference got the message! The most important issue remains that Immigration! All it is now needed is the enrichment of the BREXIT team with the best people in the country employing business acumen and …irony…
Europe is in tatters! The Banking system gets worse! The MIGRANTS… don’t ask! Bulgaria erects a wall; Hungary tries to find its voters and Germany trembles… France is in a mess over the issue of the Calais MIGRANTS and terrorism. Belgium on alert! We need politicians to perform, not puppets for the worse muppet show! Why should Europe suffer? We repeat: it is Turkey to blame for the 40 (forty) centum of the Migrants crisis, the rest rests with the super powers who made it a mess…
AT the other side of the Atlantic Hurricane Matthew pounds Haiti and now heads to Cube… Caution as it heads to North Carolina were over one million people have been asked to leave… Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Trump continue their fight for the White House; wonder though their foreign policy, given what takes place today on Planet Ocean!
India and Pakistan must find a way to settle the water issue that might trigger a war there.
Africa messy as ever.
Australia seems quite.
The Far East might give us some explosive economic situations…
The Malta Maritime Summit continues and we are advised it is already a great success.
Let’s see tomorrow’s 9th Annual Capital Link Shipping, Marine Services and offshore Forum what will produce.
Have a nice evening and be on guard for every eventuality!
