Dubai, UAE and Petaluma, California, USA – October 29, 2016 – Leading mobile satellite services operator, Thuraya Telecommunications Company and its M2M service partner, X2nSat, will be co-exhibiting at the upcoming Rural Smart Grid Summit, in Florida.

On the show floor will be Thuraya’s FT2225 M2M Terminal, launched earlier this year, the first Thuraya terminal to operate in North America by utilizing the powerful ViaSat mobile satellite services (MSS) network.

The Thuraya M2M Service helps enhance service reliability, while improving the security of the grid. It offers exceptionally efficient bandwidth usage and low-latency IP networking. The FT2225 always-on connectivity enables real time monitoring and control to extend smart grid and substation monitoring applications in the utilities sectors.

JR Francis, Regional Director for North America at Thuraya said: “One of the key technology requirements for smart grids, as stated by the US Department of Energy, is ‘integrated two-way communications’ which makes Thuraya’s M2M terminals an ideal solution. The Thuraya M2M service addresses the M2M/ IoT market requirement for a highly efficient, low latency IP network. Solutions integrated with the Thuraya M2M service reduce total cost of ownership, and are supported by a market-leading 99.9% service level agreement. Thuraya M2M network offers IP connectivity, two-way communications with end-to-end highly secure AES256 encryption.”

Jena Kramer, Director of Marketing at X2nSat, said: “We are pleased to be exhibiting the Thuraya terminal, which has become a primary element in our upcoming FlexCom™ line of L-band solutions. Since our partnership with Thuraya began earlier this year, we’ve garnered a lot of interest from the Utilities sector, so sharing our experience and use cases with this audience is a logical fit.”

Francis added: “X2nSat was the first company to sign a Service Partner Agreement to offer Thuraya’s dedicated M2M service and terminal to customers in North America. With a proven track record in providing network and communications solutions, X2nSat is the trusted partner of choice for us in this region.”

Thuraya and X2nSat will be showcasing the terminal at Rural Smart Grid Summit October 30- November 1 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida at the X2nSat booth.
