Special Events, Industry Gatherings and New Programs Bring Marine Professionals Together Throughout the Three-Day Show

Tampa, FL – The International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), North America’s leading trade event for the recreational marine industry, is expanding how the industry connects when it returns to the Tampa Convention Center, October 6-8.

From signature waterfront evening celebrations and targeted professional networking to programs designed to connect established leaders with the next generation of marine professionals, IBEX 2026 will provide platforms throughout the Show for attendees to develop new relationships, reconnect with colleagues and exchange ideas beyond the exhibit hall.

Rather than approaching networking as a series of standalone receptions, IBEX has intentionally organized many of its experiences around interests, career stages and shared technical disciplines, creating more opportunities for attendees to find their community while discovering the products, education and innovation shaping the future of recreational marine.

“IBEX has always been about more than seeing the newest products and technologies, it is where the people who design, build, service and support the recreational marine industry come together,” said Mary Velline, IBEX Show Director. “For 2026, we’ve created even more opportunities for meaningful connections, whether that means meeting a new business partner, exchanging ideas with fellow industry leaders or helping emerging professionals build relationships that can shape their careers. Those conversations and connections are an important part of what makes IBEX such a valuable gathering.”

Where the Industry Comes Together

IBEX will get the week started before the exhibit halls officially open with the Pre-Show Happy Hour, sponsored by SeaPower, Monday, October 5, from 4-6 p.m. at the Sail Pavilion. Reintroduced for 2026, the outdoor waterfront welcome provides exhibitors, guests and industry partners with an early opportunity to reconnect and kick off the week together in a relaxed setting.

The official opening of IBEX takes place on Tuesday morning, with the annual Industry Breakfast, from 7:30-9 a.m. at the Tampa Marriott Water Street. One of the longest-standing IBEX traditions and a yearly sold-out event, the Industry Breakfast brings the marine community together to officially open the Show with a look at the current state of the industry, emerging market trends and opportunities shaping the future of boating. The program will once again recognize this year’s Innovation Award winners, celebrating the products and technologies driving the industry forward before attendees head to the exhibit halls.

The first day concludes with the IBEX Opening Night Gathering at the Sail Pavilion sponsored by Wet Sounds, from 5-7 p.m. An attendee favorite, the waterfront social will once again give exhibitors, attendees and other marine industry professionals an opportunity to continue conversations from the show floor, while enjoying complimentary beverages and connecting with colleagues in one of Tampa’s most popular outdoor venues.

Communities Built Around the Industry

Once the exhibit halls open, attendees can take advantage of a variety of purpose-driven opportunities designed around interests, career stages and technical communities. From emerging professionals and longstanding Professional BoatBuilder members, to innovators, executives and international exhibitors, IBEX 2026 offers more opportunities than ever for attendees to find their community.

New for 2026, IBEX presents the Professional BoatBuilder Journal Release Party, an event celebrating the newest issue of The IBEX Technical Journal. Designed specifically for the technical community, the reception brings together long-time readers, contributing authors, editors and industry leaders for an exclusive Editor & Writers Meet & Greet featuring Aaron Porter, Editor of Professional BoatBuilder, along with respected contributors Steve D’Antonio and Nigel Calder. Guests will also enjoy a guided Design Gallery tour followed by a hosted cocktail reception, creating an opportunity to celebrate one of the marine industry’s most respected technical publications while connecting with the people behind its content.

Building on the continued growth of Emerging Marine Leaders (EML), IBEX 2026 expands the initiative with a dedicated Emerging Marine Leaders Lounge strategically placed in the Education Hall, Room 118, and enhanced programming designed to strengthen workforce development and professional connections throughout the week. Organized around career stage rather than age, Emerging Marine Leaders supports professionals entering, advancing within or transitioning into the recreational marine industry through dedicated education sessions, networking opportunities and community-building experiences.

The program features dedicated sessions presented by Boating Industry magazine. On Tuesday afternoon, Emerging Marine Leaders will host a special cocktail reception celebrating Boating Industry’s 40 Under 40 and Women Making Waves honorees. This gathering brings together recognized industry professionals and EML participants for an afternoon of networking and celebration.

Celebrating Innovation

Innovation remains at the heart of the IBEX experience, with multiple opportunities for attendees to discover emerging technologies while connecting directly with the innovators shaping the future of recreational boating.

On Tuesday, the Yachting Ventures Pitch Competition, scheduled from 1-2:30 p.m., will showcase promising startups and emerging businesses as they present new ideas and technologies to a panel of judges and investors. Immediately following, the Innovation Meet & Greet at 2:30 p.m. gives attendees the opportunity to meet this year’s Innovation Award finalists and winners while celebrating the products and technologies driving the industry forward.

On Wednesday afternoon, Pitch the Press sponsored by Supersede returns, providing exhibitors, boatbuilders and marine service providers with an opportunity to present new products, technologies and company developments directly to editors and journalists from leading marine publications.

Leadership, Business & Professional Connections

Wednesday morning will begin with the return of the Marine Ideas Exchange (MIX), presented by IBEX and Soundings Trade Only Group. Running from 7-9:45 a.m., and open to all IBEX attendees and exhibitors, MIX brings together voices from across the industry for fresh thinking, meaningful insight and valuable connection. The program combines a keynote conversation and dynamic forum sessions with curated networking breaks in the MIX Sensory Lounge, creating opportunities to exchange ideas, challenge perspectives and explore the trends and opportunities shaping the future of recreational boating.

International exhibitors looking to strengthen their presence in the U.S. market with a new opportunity to make targeted business connections are encouraged to join the U.S. Market Accelerator: Sales & Marketing Connections event on Wednesday from 7:30-8:45 a.m. Developed in partnership with the National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) and Marine Marketers of America (MMA), the structured, fast-paced networking program will connect participating exhibitors with U.S. marine representative groups and experienced marine marketing professionals.

IBEX will also put a spotlight on professional connections through the Main Stage program, Setting the Table for Career Success: Women At The Helm, from 4-5 p.m., featuring a series of fast-paced discussions focused on career development and success. The conversation will continue immediately afterward with a dedicated Women in Marine Gathering at the Sail Pavilion sponsored by Akzo Nobel.

Wednesday evening concludes with another attendee favorite, the Mid-Show Mixersponsored by Roswell Marine from 5-7 p.m. at the Sail Pavilion. The informal waterfront reception provides another opportunity for the entire IBEX community to reconnect, strengthen relationships and continue conversations after the second full day of the Show.

Investing in the Future of the Industry

Networking and workforce development continues through Thursday, as Career Day, introduces students and future marine professionals to career opportunities across the recreational marine industry, through dedicated programming, exhibit hall experiences and a networking luncheon with industry leaders.

Emerging Marine Leaders programming for 2026 also includes a Coffee & Connections: VIP Mentorship Hour, Thursday 9-10 a.m. at the EML Lounge, creating another opportunity for developing professionals to connect with established industry leaders.

IBEX has long served as the central meeting place for the recreational marine industry, bringing together world-class technical education, product innovation and business development under one roof. The expanded networking, special events and professional communities introduced for 2026 reflect IBEX’s continued investment in creating meaningful connections that strengthen businesses, careers and the future of recreational boating.
