HSH Nordbank participates in the refinancing of Cory Riverside Energy

HAMBURG/KIEL HSH Nordbank is participating as a mandated lead arranger in the refinancing of Cory Riverside Energy, one of the leading companies in recycling, waste processing and energy recovery in the UK, for the Riverside waste-to-energy plant in Belvedere in London’s south-east. The volume of the entire refinancing is around GBP 520 million, of which HSH Nordbank is making available GBP 47 million.

Riverside is the biggest waste-to-energy plant in England and processes around 753,000 tonnes of waste every year. Situated directly on the Thames, a large percentage of the waste is transported to the plant on water, meaning that it does not additionally burden London’s already congested roads. The Cory Group is majority owned by investment funds.

“This transaction in the waste-to-energy sector provides us with a very good opportunity to round off our strategy in infrastructure and renewable energies in a meaningful manner,” said Dr. Marcus Kleiner, Head of Sales for Infrastructure & Logistics at HSH Nordbank.
