Closure of the Rhine valley rail corridor: Swisstrain offers replacement schedule

by admin

Frenkendorf, Switzerland, 18 August 2017: Following the closure of the railway line between the German cities of Rastatt and Baden-Baden, the Swisstrain has developed a replacement schedule for rail freight transport between the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp and the terminal in Frenkendorf/Basel.

The company, a transport product offered by Frenkendorf-based Swissterminal AG, has requested DB Netz to grant right-of-way for an alternative routing and expects this to be approved by the end of this week. As soon as this has happened, more details on the new schedule coming into effect in week 35 will be published.

Alternatively, container transport by barge between the two ports and Basel is possible. Bookings can be made via the sales team at Swisstrain directly.

Swissterminal AG as the Swisstrain’s operator would like to urgently ask DB Netz to implement an effective emergency plan and inform all involved parties as soon as possible.
