New Deal Sees Danelec Partner Installing 18 Units Through 2019

(Birkeroed, Denmark – Oct. 25, 2017) – (Marine NewsWire) Maritime technology company Danelec Marine announced today a new partnership with the government of India. The deal, struck by a Danelec local distributor, is the first Indian government contract for the company.

The deal entails outfitting newly built ships with Voyage Data Recorders (VDRs), including 12 coast guard patrol boats, and retrofitting on six navy frigates. With production beginning in 2018 and to be completed by 2019, the contract paves the way for future partnerships and a continued presence in the region.

“We are looking forward to this opportunity and working together with the Indian military,” says Danelec Marine CEO, Hans Ottosen. “Government agencies have very high requirements for the reliability of the equipment, so it is also a great recognition for our company and products.”

Utilizing an already existing positive relationship with the Indian governmental body, the Danelec local partner, Marine Electricals, won the deal. Marine Electricals will oversee and provide the initial installations of hardware provided by Danelec, as well as continued service for a minimum of 10 years.

“As an integrated technical services provider in the fields of electrical automation, as well as navigation and communication technology solutions, we are excited about the assurance given to us to service these new vessels,” says Marine Electricals Director, Vinay K. Uchil. “We are confident in the VDR products from Danelec, and look forward to working with them in the years to come.”

VDRs were first produced by Danelec Marine in 2001, and are now a mandatory and crucial aspect of large vessel safety and operations. VDRs, known as the “black box” of the shipping industry, monitor and record important information onboard. Danelec Marine VDRs are marked by their strong Danish design, with all components developed in-house.

Using their unique SWAP Technology, Danelec enables fast and easy replacement of equipment in case of failure, without the need to reinstall software and reconfigure the system. Danelec additionally offers a range of remote access solutions that enable instant and cost-optimized access from ship to shore, so that ship managers can harness the power of big data for informed decisions and more efficient asset management.

“VDR systems are important to support safety at sea. Danelec has extensive knowledge in the VDR category having installed more than 6,000 of our products,” says Ottosen. “We have developed the most reliable VDR system in the market, all in line with our vision to provide the most efficient product and service solution to the maritime industry.”
