The BDI@790… a happy note before Easter
The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) gained another 23 points earlier on today and looks likely same will go over and above the 800 points; let’s hope so! Geopolitics more than perplexed. John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:
The Capes after yesterday’s four points rise saw its BCI up 27 points and now at 490 looks certain unless cursed to go over the 500 points.
The Panamaxes’ BPI clinched 15 points; clinched as yesterday the gains were 28 points… The BPI now reads 1,162 points!
The Supras’ BSI was up six points and now stands at 732…
The Handies continue to drop; the BHSI now stands at 390 – minus four points.
Both Wet indices on an upwards mode; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 652 – plus nine and 584 – plus ten points respectively!
The WTI as these lines are being written stands at US$ 64 (23:00 BST). Caution caution caution!
Now wonder what will slow-steaming offer to furthering the markets… Need your answer!

A must to wake up! The USA should not retreat an iota from the Middle East as this will crreate dangerous “openings” fro unwanted others…

Turkey, the sick man of Europe continues to bother all but the Turkish public is the real victim of yet another spectacular bankruptcy. Don’t ask what the behaviour of the Turkish regime will lead to; provocation all over and bullying is the name of the game. Today’s interference and harassment of Turkish jets of Greece’s head of the Army helicopter was yet another show of dangerous and despicable policy… Wonder why NATO and the UN, not to mention the EU, allow such behaviour. If, repeat if an accident happens and the Greeks “respond” in an equally bad tempered so to speak way, then you know that the Fourth World War is on… A big melee… CAUTION!
Watch out the forthcoming European and Municipal elections in Greece were the situation remains critical. We hope some candidates emanating from the Shipping Fraternity, if elected will make the big change! The “poisoned” man of Europe might produce trouble for all. On another tone and note and contrary to what Germans believe, the Greeks demand reparations from both World Wars and rightly so!
Bank scandals continue with dirty money no matter where it emanates from. Today this dirty banking business amounts a few trillion dollars and not just a few billion as some claim. Shame! Audit firms too have a case to answer; another shame. NO EXCUSES please! Don’t play the saint game…

In India we are still awaiting the election results – next month or so and see whats next in Planet Ocean’s biggest democracy… In the meantime its the rich who dominate and dictate politics in the entire subcontinent…
China’s slow down affects China first and with respect the Trade War with the USA, despite China being prepared for the inevitable (for the worse so to speak) the USA is not an easy opponent and the Chinese must practice patience with Uncle Sam… They are not ready and cannot rule the world the way they think! Despite many maxims in the 10,000 old Chinese culture still they have to philosophise and ensure they don’t shoot their feet…
Japan is closely watching all this big game and in particular ready to defend its economy and sovereignty! Japan needs also Iran free for its oil needs…
