Mooring System & Line Management Plan RIGHTSHIP-compliant powered by Prevention at Sea
Rightship’s Inspection & Assessment Questionnaire (June 2020 edition) reads that ‘the Mooring Equipment Guidelines Edition 4 (MEG4) have been written for oil tankers and gas tankers. However, there are many principles in these guidelines that can be considered for other types of ships; i.e. Section 5 (Mooring lines), Section 6 (Mooring winch) etc.”
According to Rightship, companies need to have in place guidelines and procedures for the inspection, maintenance, and wear zone management of the mooring lines and that they are being properly implemented onboard.
The ‘Mooring System & Line Management Plan’ by Prevention at Sea has been developed in line with OCIMF / IMO Guidelines and best industry practices. It is also applicable for Rightship Inspection and Assessment as it covers the requirements of Section 11 for Mooring Operations.
