Danish suppliers push forward the ongoing transition for a more sustainable maritime industry

.

35 Danish suppliers in the international maritime industry will be exhibiting at the Virtual Pavilion of Denmark that runs alongside SMM DIGITAL 2021 from 2 February. The Danish suppliers bring technology, know-how and digital solutions that support the industry in the transition towards greener and safer shipping.

Danish Export – Marine January 2021

The world-leading international marine event SMM is purely digital this time due to the pandemic, and so is Pavilion of Denmark. According to Mie Jessen Jakobsen, Head of Marine, Danish Export Association, who is the organizer of the Virtual Pavilion of Denmark, the Danish suppliers will be showcasing solutions that can cut costs, increase safety, and support the transition towards a more sustainable industry:

“Right now, we are really experiencing a shift from all sides of the industry. Ship owners and shipping companies are joining forces with suppliers on developing a more sustainable maritime industry. There is an insisting focus and a willingness from the Danish suppliers to be front runners in this transition, which includes pushing forward digitalisation of shipping to increase safety and reduce emission.”

Danish Export – Marine is the largest Danish export network, representing more than 160 suppliers to the global maritime industry.

More compliant fuels
One of the Danish suppliers exhibiting at the Virtual Pavilion of Denmark is Emerson’s Marine Solutions group that offers integrated control and monitoring solutions for all onboard marine tank systems. At this year’s Pavilion of Denmark, Emerson will put special focus on their MID certified bunkering system, newly revised by the Netherlands Measurement Institute to cover a wider range of marine fuel types in one certified system.

“IMO 2020 has compelled the marine industry to look for more compliant fuels and new blended fuels with low Sulphur content are already entering the fuel market. However, different fuel types impact the commercial and technical strategy for shipowners, ship operators and bunker tanker operators and they will need to re-define their operations and mode of measurement to infuse confidence in the loading and delivery process,” explains Tom Sørensen, Director Global Marketing for Emerson’s Marine Solutions group.

Enhance operational efficiency

Emerson’s bunkering system enables bunker tanker owners as well as vessel operators not to worry about compliance and helps achieve a more efficient vessel operation:

“Our bunkering system provides accuracy and confidence in the fuel loading and delivery, and the system can measure any type of marine fuel without any need for adjustments. This means that bunker tankers or vessels outfitted to handle different types of fuels can operate using one bunker measurement system and enhance operational efficiency.”

Discuss challenges online
The Virtual Pavilion of Denmark enables the marine industry to meet and interact live with each other despite the current pandemic. 35 Danish suppliers exhibit during the event and keynote speakers from the industry deliver speeches on the platform.

“A digital project of this scale requires a great effort and is a new way of meeting suppliers and key players in the industry to discuss challenges and find solutions. We consider it pivotal that we keep finding ways to connect Danish suppliers and visitors interested in the high-quality and well-renowned products and services that the suppliers are well-known for providing – also in difficult times,” says Mie Jessen Jakobsen.

The Virtual Pavilion of Denmark is co-financed by The Trade Council, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Denmark and is open to all. Participation is free of charge. Sign up here
