Cybersecurity onboard: training matters!

Join us at this Nautical Institute Foundation webinar

10.00 – 11.00 UK time (UTC+1) on Thursday 8 July 2021

It is now more than six months since the introduction of IMO Resolution MSC.428(98) which requires shipping companies to address cyber risks in their safety management systems and it’s never been more important to keep your whole team cyber-safe.

The growing dependence on electronic and web-connected systems means that cyber incidents can threaten the safety of life at sea and cause serious economic and, just as damaging, reputational harm.

This Cybersecurity Onboard: Training Matters webinar, organised by The Nautical Institute Foundation, aims to highlight the crucial role of cybersecurity awareness training in the drive to identify, prevent and report potential cyber incidents and minimise the impact if a cyber breach does occur.

Chronis Kapalidis, Senior Manager, Training and Advisory Services for HudsonAnalytix, Chris Adams FNI, Managing Director of Steamship Insurance Management Services, and Colin Payne AFNI, CEO of The Nautical Institute Foundation, will be making initial presentations and will then be joined by John Lloyd FNI, CEO of The Nautical Institute, for a panel discussion with the audience.

Prior to his role at HudsonAnalytix, Chronis Kapalides was an Officer in the Hellenic Navy for 15 years where he specialised in Network, Information Security and Analysis, Threat Intelligence and Maritime Operations. Chronis also lectures on cybersecurity at the University of Warwick.

Chris Adams FNI also served at sea, as a navigating officer with Ellerman City Liners of London. He joined Steamship Mutual in 1979. In addition to his role as Managing Director, he is also Head of Loss Prevention and the European Syndicate and Director of Steamship Mutual, London and Bermuda.

Colin Payne AFNI, NI Foundation CEO, will introduce the Foundation’s work and its cybersecurity training.

NI CEO John Lloyd FNI will be welcoming the speakers to the Cybersecurity webinar and will then join the panel discussion.
This free webinar will be fully interactive, inviting questions from attendees and will provide a certificate of participation to all those who attend.

Please forward this email to your colleagues if you feel this is a topic that would be of interest to them.

A recording of this webinar will be made available on The NI YouTube channel.
