Submit to MEL special issueThierry Vanelslander, together with Tom O’Brien and Chen Yang, will run a special issue at Palgrave’s Maritime Economics & Logistics journal. This special issue is particularly interested in papers evaluating COVID-19’s impact on the logistics industry, including supply chain management, inland operations, ocean shipping; and identifying and understanding long-term changes caused by the epidemic in the logistics industry.

C-MAT students enjoyed company visits
Students of the two-week intensive masterclass ‘Air transport Economics and Business’ at C-MAT enjoyed a site visit at TUIfly Western Europe. They particularly enjoyed the very interesting presentations of the hybrid business model by MD Günther Hofman and the complex flight scheduling methodology by director Erik Follet.

New year, new excursion at DP World Antwerp! Our students Maritiem en Logistiek Management got operational insights right from the center of the action!

New TPR junior researcher: Juan Manuel Pulido

Juan Manuel Pulido Guzman started working at TPR as a junior PhD researcher on the research project SyTaDel. In the project, synchromodal planning was selected due to its relevance to the future of logistics, and because of its heavy reliance on a logistics data space. The synchromodal planning algorithms will be deployed and tested in Living Labs.

New TPR junior researcher: Charis Christodoulou

Charis Christodoulou Raftis started working at TPR as a junior PhD researcher on the research project NOVIMOVE. The project’s strategy is to “condense” the inland waterway logistics system by improving container load factors and by reducing waiting times in seaports, by improved river voyage planning and execution, and by facilitating smooth passages through bridges and locks.

TPR lectured at joint course International Port Strategies

Christa Sys, Edwin van Hassel and Thierry Vanelslander lectured at the joint C-MAT/APEC/IAPH course on International Port Strategies. The course was fully online and welcomed 20 participants.

On 18 March 2022, Sisangile Nduna defended her thesis on ‘Efficiency and productivity in container terminal operation: A case study for the Hamburg – Le Havre range’.
