The fight against cigarette smoking in France continues with the aim of reducing daily tobacco use to 5% of the population by 2032 from today’s 25%. Measures include a continuation of raising the price of cigarettes, banning the sale of cigarettes to under 21s, and banning the use of filters.

France’s May Day protests attracted 800,000 people according to the  police and 2.3 million according to the far-left CGT union.
