One of our member charities, Guild of Benevolence is hosting an event – Unrest at Sea tomorrow.
Join us for a powerful and urgent conversation uncovering the hidden realities faced by seafarers today. The event will open with first-hand testimonies from crew members who have experienced verbal and physical abuse at sea – stories that highlight the deep mental health impact of life onboard of a vessel.
This will be followed by a dynamic panel discussion featuring government figures, EU representatives, and maritime leaders. Together with participants, we will explore the legal grey zones at sea, the gaps in current protections, and ask why so many maritime charities are needed to fill the void.
Be part of the discussion – and the change.
Speakers include:
- Nusrat Ghani MP- Madam Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons – former Minister of Maritime
- Simon Grainge Chief Executive, International Seafarers’ Welfare & Assistance
- Györgyi Gurban International Maritime Organization
- Pantelis Lamprianidis Accredited Representative of the EU to the IMO
