More than 125 senior executives from across the transport and logistics industry gathered in London for Transaid’s annual showcase, held in the presence of HRH The Princess Royal, and kindly hosted by Eversheds Sutherland.

The event celebrated Transaid’s mission to transform lives through safe, available, and sustainable transport, and recognised the ongoing support of its corporate partners and ambassadors.

Highlights included a powerful testimony from Sharon Petrus, Chairwoman of the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) Women’s Desk for the Northern Region, who spoke about their work with Transaid improving safety for women driving and using minibus taxis in the region.

Robert Jervis, Event Director for Multimodal and a Transaid Ambassador, also shared his experiences working alongside Transaid to raise awareness and vital funds.

We would like to thank our event sponsors British International Freight Association (BIFA), Road Haulage Association (RHA), UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) and Woodland Group for their generous support.

Lastly, we would like to thank everyone who joined us to reflect on another year of transforming lives through safe, available, and sustainable transport.

Caroline Barber, Transaid Chief Executive, says, “I am so grateful to this incredible industry that works together to build a fairer and more sustainable future. This community knows how to come together, solve problems and get things done.”

MAMaZ Project Technical Coordinator Ernest Chanda wins 2025 Victor Simfukwe Award

Ernest Chanda, Project Technical Coordinator for Transaid’s MAMaZ programmes, has been named the winner of the 2025 Victor Simfukwe Award, recognising his exceptional dedication to improving access to healthcare and advancing Transaid’s mission.

Ernest was praised for his leadership, professionalism, and tireless commitment to saving lives through safer transport and healthcare delivery across Zambia and beyond. This year, Ernest travelled to Nigeria, the country with the highest malaria burden, to train trainers on the use of Rectal Artesunate (RAS) at the community level as a treatment for severe malaria.

Dennis Simuyuni, Transaid Project Manager, received the Highly Commended Award for his outstanding work ethic, teamwork, and impact across projects in Zambia and South Africa. Dennis plays an instrumental role alongside Ernest in the delivery of the MAMaZ programme, ensuring greatest impact.

The awards, sponsored by Impress Communications, were presented by Chief Executive Caroline Barber at Transaid’s Royal Showcase in London.

A full list of those shortlisted can be found below. We would like to congratulate everyone who was nominated for their hard work supporting Transaid!

Supporting Transaid’s MAMaZ programmes: at a glance

Thanks to your support, Transaid has been helping communities in Serenje and Chitambo Districts access lifesaving healthcare. Over recent months, we’ve strengthened 33 communities and 13 health facilities, ensuring bicycle ambulances are ready when they’re needed most.

131 community health volunteers, 18 ETS riders, and 16 health staff have received vital training and equipment.

We would like to thank BPW, Davies Turner, Macade, and SDC trailers for each donating a new bicycle ambulance to rural communities in Zambia, and Hireco for donating two. Your support keeps this work moving!
