An evening of celebration, storytelling and Christmas spirit at Mr Fogg’s
by Natalia-Lydia Papadantonaki
On 2 December 2025, the maritime and freight-communications community gathered at Mr Fogg’s City Tavern in Broadgate for one of the most anticipated evenings of the year – the Seahorse Freight Association Journalist Awards & Christmas Party. With its rich Victorian décor, warm lighting, hanging banners and festive garlands, Mr Fogg’s transformed into a cozy, Christmas-themed haven, creating the perfect backdrop for a night celebrating excellence in global transport journalism.

The event opened with welcome drinks sponsored by AAL Shipping -from passion-fruit cocktails topped with Moët & Chandon to elegant non-alcoholic blends- setting a relaxed and joyful tone as guests mingled across the room.
Beautifully crafted wooden trophies, each engraved with the signature Seahorse emblem, were displayed ahead of the ceremony. One by one, winners in categories such as Multimedia Journalist of the Year, Technical Writer of the Year, and Feature Writer of the Year were announced, celebrating professionals whose storytelling shapes the maritime and logistics world. Among them, Christopher Aversano received the Multimedia Journalist of the Year award, a highlight proudly captured by attendees.

As the presentations unfolded, laughter, applause, and the hum of conversation filled the room. The audience gathered closely around the award stage, phones raised to photograph the winners in front of the Seahorse backdrop, capturing moments of recognition that reflected both pride and community.
Byond the ceremony, the true essence of the evening lay in its atmosphere:
the soft glow of Christmas lights, the decorated tree by the window, the vintage objects suspended from the ceiling, and the vibrant, friendly crowd exchanging insights over wine and cocktails. It was a celebration not just of journalism, but of the people behind it; those who dedicate their work to telling the stories of shipping, logistics, and the evolving maritime world.

As the night unfolded, Mr Fogg’s became a lively hub of ideas, reunions, and festive cheer. The 2025 Seahorse Awards reaffirmed the value of thoughtful reporting in a sector that moves the world, and offered a warm, joyful reminder that every great industry is built not only on operations, but on stories worth sharing.
