ISWAN – India Seminar 2025: Attract, Retain, Sustain

The ISWAN – India Seminar 2025 was held on 17th December in Mumbai, bringing together seafarers, cadets, families, government representatives, maritime companies, training institutes, and welfare organisations for focused discussions on strengthening seafarer wellbeing and retention across the maritime sector.

Centred on the theme “Attract, Retain, Sustain: Supporting the Wellbeing of Seafarers and their Families,” the seminar explored how the industry can better support seafarers at key transition points, from first voyages to long-term careers, while recognising the vital role played by families and shore-based teams.

The seminar featured addresses from senior maritime leaders and government representatives, panel discussions on induction practices and emotional support systems, and a dedicated session amplifying the voices of seafarers and their families. The programme also included the launch of new ISWAN initiatives aimed at supporting cadets, strengthening shore staff capacity, and enhancing family engagement.
