Bringing together policymakers, industry leaders and technical experts, Nuclear Week in Parliament focused on how the UK can accelerate nuclear deployment while maintaining regulatory rigour, public confidence and long-term value. The CORE POWER team attended sessions across the programme, contributing to discussions and gathering insight into how innovation, delivery models and collaboration across the nuclear sector are evolving.
A consistent message emerged throughout the week: the challenge is no longer whether nuclear can be delivered safely, but how it can be delivered faster, more consistently and at scale. Discussions explored the growing role of digital tools such as artificial intelligence and immersive visualisation, alongside the need for clearer, more aligned regulatory pathways and delivery models that reduce friction without compromising standards.
Collaboration was a recurring theme, with speakers emphasising the importance of working across institutional and contractual boundaries, strengthening relationships between industry and regulators, and investing in long-term workforce capability. These conversations reflected a sector increasingly focused on practical solutions and execution.
For CORE POWER, Nuclear Week in Parliament reinforced both the momentum building behind nuclear delivery and the relevance of these themes as technologies extend beyond traditional land-based applications into floating power and maritime systems.

D.C. speaker spotlight

With just two weeks to go, we’re pleased to welcome Dr Rian Bahran, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Energy for Nuclear Reactors, to the summit this February.
In his role at the U.S. Department of Energy, Dr Bahran oversees a comprehensive portfolio spanning the research, development, demonstration and deployment of advanced nuclear reactors, alongside the technologies that support the long-term sustainability of the United States’ commercial nuclear fleet. His position places him at the centre of U.S. efforts to strengthen energy security, advance next-generation nuclear systems and maintain global competitiveness.
A career member of the Senior Executive Service, Dr Bahran brings senior experience across U.S. national laboratories, defence policy and the White House, where he has helped shape national policy on advanced nuclear technologies and energy security.
At the summit, Dr Bahran will present during the session entitled Charting the Course – U.S. Leadership in Maritime Nuclear, followed by a panel discussion. He will share perspectives on how advanced nuclear technologies can support U.S. leadership as maritime nuclear applications move from concept toward deployment.
