On Friday, May 8, 2026, the 1st Mare Forum Chios 2026 was held at the Chandris Hotel in Chios. The conference took place on the island for the first time, with the support of Chartworld Shipping Corporation and IRI / The Marshall Islands Registry, both members of the Chios Marine Club. Prominent figures from the Greek and international shipping community participated in the event.

This initiative aspires to establish itself as a key platform for dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas on shipping and island development.

Chios, with its long-standing maritime tradition and enduring contribution to global shipping, provides an ideal setting for hosting such an institution. In today’s rapidly evolving environment, the need for innovative approaches, sustainable solutions, and meaningful synergies is more pressing than ever. The Chios Marine Club actively supports initiatives that promote knowledge, innovation, and networking within the maritime sector. The “Chios Mare Forum” aims to bring together stakeholders from the industry, academia, and government, fostering the conditions for constructive and productive dialogue.

The Chios Marine Club was represented by its President, Capt. Antonis Pitsilos; Mr. Antonis Faraklas, the Club’s first President and a supporter of the Forum; Ioannis Faraclas, Member of the Board of Directors; and Markos Tripolitis, former President and member of the club.
