Appointment reinforces the strategic importance of Greece to LR’s global growth ambitions

Lloyd’s Register (LR) has appointed Anthi Miliou as Senior Vice President (SVP) for Greece & Cyprus and SVP Global Commercial, strengthening its senior leadership in one of the world’s most influential shipping markets and placing an accomplished commercial leader at the heart of its global growth strategy.

In these roles, Miliou will lead the development and execution of LR’s maritime commercial growth strategy, with a clear mandate to deepen key client relationships, strengthen strategic partnerships and accelerate commercial impact across the business.

As SVP for Greece & Cyprus, she will lead LR’s engagement with shipowners and maritime leaders across the region, deepening collaboration and further elevating the expertise, influence and market presence of LR’s Greek office.

Miliou brings more than two decades of experience across technical and commercial roles in the marine sector. With engineering degrees from Princeton and UCL and a PhD in computational fluid dynamics from Imperial College, she began her career in technical consultancy, working on fuels and energy efficiency, before moving into commercial leadership at LR.

Miliou previously served as Global Maritime Commercial Director, and her career at LR has spanned technical marine advisory, product management and business development. She has held a series of senior commercial leadership roles, including Regional Commercial Manager for South Europe, where she played a key role in strengthening LR’s regional commercial position and building enduring client relationships.

Anthi Miliou said: “Greece is one of the defining centres of global shipping, and LR has built an exceptionally strong platform here through deep client relationships, trusted technical expertise and long-standing market presence. I am proud to take on this role at a time when our Greek office is playing an increasingly important part in connecting local insight and client priorities with global maritime opportunity and growth.”

Andrew McKeran, Chief Growth Officer, Lloyd’s Register, said: “Anthi brings a powerful combination of technical credibility, commercial leadership and market insight to these roles. Her appointment reflects both the calibre of her leadership and the strategic importance of Greece to LR’s global growth agenda. With Anthi in this position, we are strengthening our ability to serve clients, deepen collaboration and connect one of shipping’s most important markets more directly to LR’s global business.”

Miliou’s appointment forms part of a broader strengthening of LR’s leadership presence in Greece, underlining the country’s growing strategic importance across the organisation’s global maritime activities. Recent appointments include Panos Mitrou as Senior Vice President – Shipping Strategy, Constantinos Chaelis as Global Gas Segment Director, Konstantinos Vouroutzis as Global Bulk Carrier Segment Director, and Nikos Kakalis as Managing Director of the Athens-based Maritime Emissions Reduction Centre (MERC), a non-profit industry collaboration advancing practical decarbonisation solutions.
