The 13th session of the IMO’s Sub-Committee on Navigation, Communications, Search and Rescue (NCSR 13) was held from 22 to 26 June 2026. NCSR 13 advanced maritime digitalization by finalizing draft guidance for the implementation of next generation Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS S-100), establishing a transition scheme for a future shift from analogue to digital VHF voice communications, and further progressing NAVDAT as a framework for digital broadcasting of maritime safety and search and rescue information from shore to ship.
