Seventy years after its establishment, the Eugenides Foundation continues to consistently serve the vision of national benefactor Eugenios Eugenides for the promotion of education, science, applied knowledge, skills and technical education in Greece. With a firm focus on enhancing knowledge, innovation and equal access to education, the Foundation has consistently made significant donations of educational, scientific and technological equipment to schools and educational institutions across the country.

In the context of the anniversary year for its 70th anniversary , the Foundation has developed an extensive grant program for the two years 2025-2026. In the last few months alone, five significant grants have been completed that strengthen technical and vocational education, natural sciences, maritime training, special education and the digital transformation of school education, confirming its timeless social role.

The first of these concerns the 1st EPAL of Didymoteicho “Eugenios Eugenides”, which was supported with a donation of mechanical and electrical equipment to upgrade its laboratories. The offer included modern tools, electrical equipment and computers, substantially enhancing the practical training opportunities of the students and contributing to the improvement of their technical and professional training. A short while earlier, the 1st EPAL had also been supported with the donation of an engine room simulator, the creation of the “Marianthis Simou Simulator Room” and the equipment of the laboratories of the Maritime Professions, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Departments. This intervention created a modern educational environment of high standards, giving students the opportunity to be trained in technologies and procedures that meet the requirements of modern shipping.

At the same time, the Model EPAL of Xanthi received educational and laboratory equipment to upgrade the Natural Sciences laboratory. The donation included scientific instruments, microscopes, laboratory materials and interactive equipment, creating better conditions for experiential learning, experimentation and familiarization of students with natural sciences.
With the aim of continuously supporting maritime education in the region, the Foundation also made a donation to the 1st Daily Vocational High School of Lixouri, Kefalonia, for the Maritime Professions Sector. The support included maritime instruments, engine room equipment, nautical charts and modern technological teaching aids, creating an educational environment that meets the requirements of the modern maritime industry.

Of particular importance was the donation to the Alexandroupolis Physical Education and Sports Center, which focused on upgrading the gym and physical education activities for students with disabilities. Through the supply of modern sports and therapeutic equipment, the Foundation substantially contributed to the improvement of the students’ daily lives, enhancing their exercise, rehabilitation and social integration.

The fifth donation concerned the 12th Primary School of Paleo Faliro, which was equipped with modern digital and educational media, such as computers, laptops, video projectors and stargazing equipment. This initiative enhances the digital transformation of the school unit and enriches the educational experience of students, offering them more opportunities to investigate, create and engage with science.

The five new donations of 2026 are added to a series of important initiatives implemented by the Eugenides Foundation in 2025, confirming the consistency with which it invests in improving educational infrastructure, promoting scientific knowledge and strengthening social cohesion.

The Foundation supported the Folklore Museum of Didymoteicho and the Heritage of the Karatheodoris Family, strengthening actions that highlight the historical, scientific and cultural heritage of the region, while the Rizion Primary School of Evros acquired modern technological equipment that enhances the daily educational process and expands the students’ possibilities to utilize new technologies in the classroom.
The 2nd Evening High School of Orestiada received equipment that supported the energy upgrade of its facilities, while the American Agricultural School was reinforced with technological equipment that upgrades its educational capabilities and enhances the implementation of modern teaching methods.

These initiatives highlight the Eugenides Foundation’s constant pursuit of responding to the diverse needs of the educational community, investing in sectors with high social and developmental value.
70 Years of the Eugenides Foundation

2026 is a milestone for the Eugenides Foundation, as it completes 70 years of uninterrupted and multidimensional contribution to the education, knowledge and cultivation of skills of the youth of our country. This 70-year journey was the result of a collective effort. A journey that took place together with thousands of people: students, teachers, families, scientists, technicians, professionals. A journey that kept knowledge alive, open and accessible to all. A journey that opened paths. That gave direction. That shaped a better tomorrow. Because the future does not just come. We shape it together. And the future has a history.
