Visitors can learn how cacti survive thanks to their water-storing shapes, expandable ribs and protective structures, while succulents use thick leaves to retain moisture and nutrients. Despite their resilience, recent periods of intense heat have caused sun damage to some plants, prompting the garden’s team to introduce additional shading as part of its ongoing conservation work.
