Athens, October 29, 2026. It is with great success that the British Hellenic Chamber of Commerce (BHCC) hosted its well established “Back-to-Business Dinner” once again this year.

The event took place at the Hotel Grande Bretagne, with HE Stephen Lillie CMG, the newly appointed British Ambassador to Greece, delivering the keynote address, and with Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Minister of Economy and Finance-President of the Eurogroup as the Guest of Honour.

The evening provided a special opportunity for the British Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, its members and partners to welcome the British Ambassador to Greece. Among the evening’s distinguished guests were members of the BHCC Board of Directors, BHCC members, representatives of the British Embassy in Athens and the Greek Government, entrepreneurs and senior executives from leading Greek and British companies, event sponsors, as well as representatives of institutional bodies and the media.

The event opened with a speech by Anna Kalliani, Greek President of the British Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, who mentioned: “At a time of geopolitical challenges and renewed efforts to strengthen relations between the United Kingdom and the European Union, I believe that UK–Greece relations can and should develop into an even deeper strategic partnership, with a particular focus on investment, innovation, security, education and the exchange of knowledge and expertise. We are delighted to welcome the new British Ambassador to Greece, HE Stephen Lillie CMG, and look forward to continuing and further strengthening our excellent cooperation with the British Embassy in Athens. With a history spanning more than 80 years, the British Hellenic Chamber of Commerce remains committed to enhancing its role as a strong and influential institutional partner, connecting businesses, investment, knowledge and people across our two countries, and translating shared priorities into concrete initiatives and tangible results.”

In his address as a Keynote Speaker, HE Stephen Lillie CMG, highlighted: “Today we are living in an era of radical uncertainty. At times like these our partnerships and alliances matter more than ever. We cannot afford to take them for granted. And that is why the UK and Greece should be looking afresh at each other. And why an important part of my job is to ensure that British perceptions of Greece are as modern as Greece itself. As Britain builds a closer and more pragmatic relationship with the EU, a stronger more influential and outward looking Greece creates opportunities for deeper cooperation – for our mutual security and our shared prosperity.”

Subsequently, the Minister of Economy and Finance-President of the Eurogroup and Guest of Honour, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, stated: “The closer cooperation between partners who share common values and interests, is a strategic necessity, with an unwavering and non-negotiable commitment to international law. The European Union and the United Kingdom have every reason to strengthen their cooperation. We welcome the British Government’s intention to pursue closer ties with the European Union. Deepening this relationship, can enhance security, resilience, and prosperity across Europe. History, trade, and culture connect us in countless ways. It would be, at the very least, counterproductive to assume that a narrow stretch of sea is enough to keep us apart.”

The evening’s speeches concluded with an address by Kenny Evangelou, British President of the British Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, who welcomed the attendees and thanked the event sponsors. In his speech, the British President emphasised: “The Chamber’s value lies in the connections we help build and the cooperation that follows. Back to Business brings together longstanding members, new members and guests to strengthen those relationships. I would like to thank our members for their continued participation and support, our sponsors for their generous contribution, and everyone who helped make this evening possible.”

For their contribution to the success of the evening, the organisers would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Chamber’s Annual Platinum Sponsors, as well as the event sponsors:
