MSA Marine Complex

After the postponement of the much anticipated preview event in June, Maritime Skills Academy is excited to confirm the re-launch will now take place on September 8th 2016.

Giving the maritime industry a view of what is on offer at the iconic, state-of-the-art training facility, the Academy, based at Whitfield, Dover, next to the Viking Headquarters, will bring a new high-tech Marine Survival Complex to the maritime sector.

The new Complex, incorporating training and conference facilities, will enable the Academy to extend the range and number of courses it offers, including a wide portfolio of MCA accredited Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) courses; together with refresher training, professional development, and business to business services.

It will also allow the Academy to build on its philosophy of lifelong learning; providing a solid educational pathway for those pursuing, and furthering, a career at sea.

The Complex, ideally situated for ease of travel within the UK and Europe, is perfectly located for global shipping clients and maritime professionals seeking world class training.

Providing vital training for the maritime industry, the Maritime Skills Academy, is an integral part of the Viking ‘Family of Companies’. Expert in-house trainers offer both open and bespoke training courses for the global maritime industry, including cruise ships, superyachts, renewable support vessels and the oil & gas sector.

Sir Alan Massey KCB CBE, Chief Executive, Maritime and Coastguard Agency, will officially open the Complex, along with Guy Platten, CEO of UK Chamber of Shipping.

Unveiling the brand new Complex to invited industry guests, attendees will be able to tour the facilities and see live demonstrations; enabling them to see the onsite fire ground and training pool first-hand.

Mark Jaenicke, Recruitment and HR Director at MSA said: “We are delighted to be opening the new Complex, and have the opportunity to showcase it to the maritime industry. Having worked closely with the MCA, we are especially delighted to have Sir Alan Massey opening the facility, allowing us to showcase UK maritime excellence.

“Extending our existing offering of courses and services will enable us to offer greater flexibility to companies and individuals to deliver their training needs. We are very excited about the future of the Maritime Skills Academy!”
