Repairs to fenders & replacement of dolphins at typhoon shelter

For approximately 3 months, fender repairing and replacement works for sixteen dolphins will be carried out in the New Yau Ma Tei Typhoon Shelter.The works will be carried out by one vessel fitted with a crane. Only one dolphin will be engaged in the works at a time.The works will be carried out from 0700 to 1900 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. The vessel engaged in the works will stay close to a dolphin outside the hours of works.

The vessel engaged in the works will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.

Seawall modification works for seawater intake culverts

For approximately 5 months, seawall modification works for seawater intake culverts will be carried out [at West Kowloon Cultural District] within the works area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 deg. 18.047’N / 114 deg. 09.899’E
(B) 22 deg. 18.045’N / 114 deg. 09.900’E
(C) 22 deg. 18.039’N / 114 deg. 09.845’E
(D) 22 deg. 18.040’N / 114 deg. 09.844’EThe works will involve diving operations from time to time using the abutting seawall as the base of operation. One guard boat will provide assistance.Two silt curtains at the seawall, extending from the sea surface to the seabed, will be established within the works area.

Each silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments.

Yellow marker buoys fitted yellow flashing lights will be laid a long the surface of the silt curtain to mark the extent of the silt curtain.

The hours of work will be from 0800 to 1800 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. The guard boat employed for the works will not stay in the works area outside the hours of work.

The guard boat engaged in the works will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and keep clear of the works area at slow speed, bearing in mind there are divers working in the area.

Seawall opening & submarine cable diversion works

The working period for seawall opening and submarine cable diversion works off Ayer Merbau Basin and Selat Pandan has been extended. The works are now being conducted form 26 October 2016 to 24 April 2017.According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.117 of 2016, the works are being carried out from 0700 to 1900 hours daily including Sundays and Public Holidays within the working areas bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):AREA “A”

The seawall opening and submarine cable diversion works will be carried out by crane barges and assisted by tugs and work barges. Working sequence will be one area at a time. Divers will also be deployed for underwater cutting work.

Safety boats will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn other craft and vessels of the work.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear of the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and to navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 68 (Sinki Control); and
e) Communicate with Sinki Control on VHF Channel 68 for assistance, if required.
