Revisions to water price announced

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore has announced revisions to its water price for shipping customers to come into effect on 1 July 2017 and 1 July 2018.

In its Port Marine Circular No.4 of 2017, its states that the revisions take into consideration the rising operations costs and heavy investment in water infrastructure.

The Potable Water Tariff ($/m³) will remain unchanged at $1.92. The Waterborne Fee (WBF) and the Water Conservation Tax (WCT), however, will go up in two phases as follows:

Water Conservation Tax ($/m³)
Current price: 0.58 (30% of $1.92)
From 1 Jul 2017: 0.67 (35% of $1.92)
From 1 Jul 2018: 0.96 (50% of $1.92)

Waterborne Fee ($/m³)
Current price: 0.56
From 1 Jul 2017: 0.78
From 1 Jul 2018: 0.92

TOTAL ($/m³)
Current price: 1.92+0.58+0.56 = 3.06
From 1 Jul 2017: 1.92+0.67+0.78 = 3.37
From 1 Jul 2018: 1.92+.096+0.92 = 3.80
