Maritime UK (MUK) Solent is gearing up for another year of celebrating the outstanding achievements of the Solent region’s maritime sector with the launch of its highly anticipated awards.
After the huge success of last year’s event, which saw top industry leaders and businesses gather to celebrate their hard work and dedication, MUK Solent Chair Anne-Marie Mountifield is proud to announce the formal launch of the MUK Solent Awards for 2023 on Tuesday 2 May from 9.30am to 11.30am at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, during their monthly network meeting.
Anne-Marie will be inviting businesses and leaders working in the maritime sector to take part in this year’s MUK Solent awards event.
Managing Director, Stuart Baker said: “We’re very excited to be launching the MUK Solent Awards 2023, which will highlight the Solent’s maritime strengths and innovation at a national and international level.
“The Solent’s maritime excellence will be celebrated through these awards, which will be given to some of our outstanding maritime organisations.
“Maritime UK Solent is regarded as the voice of the region’s maritime sector and we are proud to be organising these awards again this year. We welcome entries from Solent based maritime businesses and those working in the sector to take part in these awards, which will showcase the very best of our thriving maritime industry here in the Solent region.”
Chris Scrutton, Managing Director of Vulcan Offshore, who won last year’s Start-up of the Year award, and Andy Page, Managing Director of Chartwell Marine, who won Business of the Year and International Trade awards, will be in attendance talking about the event and the recognition they received.
In addition to celebrating maritime excellence, the awards aim to make a difference by supporting local charities. The launch event will be attended by Geoff Holt MBE DL, founder of Wetwheels, the MUK Solent charity partner for 2022. He will reflect on the support and awareness raised from taking part in the event and MUK Solent will also announce that it is seeking a new charity partner for 2023.
The MUK Solent awards will be open for applications from 2 May to 5 June with the winners to be announced at a ceremony on Thursday 5 October at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Charities can apply to become the charity partner and potential sponsors are welcomed to support the awards. Maritime businesses and leaders are also invited to register to attend this launch and networking event.
