Aegean600: Big win for Best Buddies from Germany

The Aegean 600 cup remained in German hands, as last year. The German boat Best Buddies, skippered by Kay Johannes Wrede, celebrated the victory of the valuable trophy at the glittering awards ceremony hosted on Saturday evening at the Lavrio Technology Park. “It had never even crossed our minds that the time would come when we would win the AEGEAN 600, but our efforts were rewarded. It was a tough race with many changes in the wind that made it difficult for all the crews. “It was something unique for us to travel to the Aegean and we can’t wait to experience it again next summer,” said the captain of Best Buddies , Kay Johannes Wrede, happily holding the race cup in his arms, which is an exact replica of an Attic workshop krater from the 5th century BC.

In the Multihull category, the winner was the ALLEGRA boat of the Swiss Adrian Keller, who participated for the second time in the AEGEAN 600 with the aim of taking back the course record from last year’s winner of his category, a goal that he ultimately did not achieve due to the weather conditions that prevailed in this year’s race.

Among the Greek crews participating in the AEGEAN 600, AIOLOS of Giorgos Prokopiou was the winner in the Line Honours (actual finishing time) in the Monohull category, thus winning 2nd place in the overall standings in the MAXI category. ANTELOPE of Patroklos Tottas finished 1st in the IRC2 category, 3rd in the ORC2 category and at the same time won 1st place among the X-YACHTS boats. A IOLIA of Spyros Papantoniou finished 3rd in the ORC3, PHILEAS FOG of Dimitris Kalantzis 2nd in the ORC2, while in the ORC Double Handed category, EROS of Michalis Avtias and Alexandre Cote took first place with AETHER of Evangelia Delidou and Gerasimos Petratos in 2nd place.
