Mosquitoes are no longer just a nuisance—they are now a growing public health threat across Europe, including in Monaco. The rapid spread of the tiger mosquito since its arrival in the region in 2004 has brought with it serious diseases like dengue, Zika, chikungunya, and West Nile virus, many of which have no treatment. With 80% of mosquito larvae found in private homes, authorities are urging individuals to take responsibility by eliminating standing water, using repellents, and wearing long clothing, while Monaco ramps up monitoring and preventive action across public and digital infrastructure.
