Further to our last on Melina Eleni Bell, we continue with another UGS scholarship recipient, Ms Natalia Papadantonaki.

Natalia Lydia Papadantonaki, a young engineer with a strong passion for advanced technologies and sustainable design, has been awarded a scholarship by the Union of Greek Shipowners to pursue a Master in Architecture by Thesis (MPhil) at the prestigious University of Cambridge. She was one of the 130 young scientists in receiving this scholarship in a special event which took place on the 1st of July in one of the most sacred temples of Hellenism, The Temple of Zeus in Athens with over 500 attendees! The company granting the scholarship was Sun Enterprises Ltd.

Natalia Lydia Papadantonaki, valedictorian of the School of Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), graduated in the academic year 2023–2024 with an Integrated Master’s Degree in Architecture, achieving the highest GPA (9.68/10) among 867 graduates across all departments. For this achievement, she was awarded at the Excellence Awards Ceremony of AUTH 2025. As the top graduate of Architecture, she was selected to deliver the graduation oath during the graduation ceremony and received the Excellence Award of the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), granted to the highest-ranking graduate of each department who completes their studies within the prescribed time. Earlier the same year, she received the Best Internship Award for her internship at P. Makridis + Associates SA., representing the Department of Architecture at the Closing Event of the AUTH Internship Program for the Academic Years 2022–2023 and 2023–2024.

Alongside her architectural studies, she completed a specialization in Project Management using Artificial Intelligence at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with a grade of 9.78/10.

Specialising in the intersection of architecture and artificial intelligence, she will spend the next year at the University of Cambridge researching how AI can transform design processes. Her work focuses on how topological geometry and machine learning can challenge conventional spatial practices, developing methodologies rooted in non-Euclidean logics and data-driven systems. Guided from an early age by art, mathematics, and technology, her goal is to merge creative expression with advanced computation to create innovative, sustainable, and accessible design solutions.

She is also interested in the Shipping Industry and in particular in Ships, Yachts designs et al…

“A heartfelt thank you to the Union of Greek Shipowners and to Ms. Travlou – it is truly moving that you give us this opportunity to continue making our dreams come true.”, she said.
