PPG, together with its long-standing representative in Greece, Aegean Protective Coatings S.A., presented its comprehensive 360-degree approach to marine coatings at Posidonia 2026 (Stand 3.104), under the theme “Reach New Horizons of Sustainability and Performance.”. The company’s latest innovations were presented, including low-friction hull coatingselectrostatic application technology, and advanced digital tools, designed to enhance vessel performance while supporting the maritime industry’s sustainability goals.

PPG also announced the publication of a white paper, Electrostatic Application of Marine Hull Coatings, detailing how this advanced application technology can help ship owners and operators improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact. The white paper focuses on:

  • The history of electrostatic spray technology and how it works.
  • Operational advantages of electrostatic application for shipyards and owners.
  • The role of hull coatings in supporting the International Maritime Organization (IMO) decarbonization goals and improving vessel efficiency.

“Electrostatic application is a breakthrough process innovation that, combined with our chemistry innovation, delivers improved productivity and sustainability for our shipyard customers,” said Jan Willem Tegelaar, PPG global platform director, marine coatings. “It has already revolutionized the automotive and aerospace industries; building on this cross-industry expertise, we have adapted the technology and developed compatible fouling control coatings to save time and reduce waste without disrupting existing workflows for marine vessels.”

Aegean Protective Coatings S.A. jointly with PPG held a reception at Golf Prive in Glyfada. The event hosted by the company’s founder Capt. Pantelis D. Monogioudis, alongside his children, Directors of the company Anna-Maria, Dimitris and John and a high-level delegation from PPG headed by PPG’s Senior VP of Protective and Marine Coatings, Mrs. Amy Ericson and General Manager of PMC EMEA & Global Platform Director, Marine Coatings, Mr. J. W. Tegelaar.

The reception attracted some 500 senior executives and leading representatives from the Greek and international shipping community, providing an excellent platform for dialogue on the future of sustainable shipping. Guests engaged with PPG and Aegean executives on the companies’ shared commitment to advancing industry productivity and sustainability through next-generation coating technologies, with a strong emphasis on continued cooperation between Greek maritime leaders and global suppliers of high-end products to support a more resilient maritime ecosystem.

Reflecting PPG’s and Aegean’s commitment to sustainable practices, they partnered with Golf Prive and the non-profit organization “Boroume” https://www.boroume.gr/  to donate all remaining food from the event, supporting local communities in need while reducing waste.
