The annual Hellenic Shipbrokers  Association (HSA) Vassilopita event took place at the spacious Metropolitan Hotel in Athens on this leap year’s last day of February…

A great gathering of members and guests, this year’s event included:

a)      The Shipbroking Gnosis Certificates Awards – an award jointly given by the HSA and the University of Piraeus to successful candidates. This decree become unique both within Greece but also Worldwide and has also attracted the interest to employees of shipping companies, masters of the merchant marine and naval officers too.

b)      The unveiling of a plaque to honour the founder of the Association “Nikolaos I. Kotzias” – a very touching moment. This plaque will be placed at he HAS’s Seminars Auditorium.

c)       A minute of silence was observed for the early loss of Mario Lomvrano, a board member of HSA

In his short address to members and guests, the president of HSA John Pachoulis, referred to its activities attracting favourable comments.

Afterwards, In the reception-buffet  the discussion were obviously the market trends and projections as well as the successful organisation and outcome of HSA’s seminars, where active volunteer shipbrokers-members of the association lecture. Let us remind you that the next HSA’s biennial International gathering, PIRAEUS 2012 takes place in June 2013. It is being rumoured that more than 3, 000 people will attend, breaking any other previous record.
