At the Arion complex of the Astir Palace, on the Vouliagmeni beach resort south of Athens, next to the Westin where the AllAboutShipping team was attending earlier on the Korean Shipbuilders’ Association reception, the Emporiki Bank of Greece, part of the French Credit Agricole Banking Group, staged their biennial Posidonia reception event. Lilian Evgenides writes:
To start with, lovely music performed by an excellent women’s quartet, an international cuisine with everything one can ask for and vibrant discussion on shipfinance issues was the name of the game! More than 500 guests paraded showing their support to one of Greece’s most famous and traditional shipfinance banks. Again, shipowners, shipbrokers, shipmanagers, lawyers, marine insurance consultants, technical and marine consultants where the biggest groups attending.

Nicholas Embeoglou, the Bank’s President of the Board of Directors on a great day, very eloquent as usual and an excellent host. He was discussing with AllAboutShipping’s Editor John Faraclas the state of the markets, the shipbuilding industry and shipfinance tactics. A good listener, a man with great humour, Nicholas Embeoglou kept the discussion going until very late. Christina Margellou too was pre-occupied with clients as well as looking after guests.
