DATE: October 13, 2012 COUNTRY: Singapore PORT: Singapore Reclamation at Pasir Panjang terminal and wharves

The working period for reclamation at Pasir Panjang terminal and wharves has been extended. The work is now being carried out from 13 to 24 October 2012.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.148 of 2012 dated 12 October 2012, the works are being conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

Works will include reclamation, dredging, soil investigation, caisson construction, demolition of the de-commissioned Pasir Panjang wharves and removal of submarine cables and pipelines.
Dredging works will be carried out by dredgers attended to by tug boats.
Safety boats will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn other craft of the project works.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

  • (a) Keep clear and not to enter the working area;
  • (b) Maintain a proper look-out;
  • (c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
  • (d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 25 (Pasir Panjang Control); and
  • (e) Communicate with Pasir Panjang Control on VHF Channel 25 for assistance, if required.

DATE: October 13, 2012 COUNTRY: Singapore PORT: Singapore Dredging off Pasir Panjang Terminal 

The working period and area for dredging works off Pasir Panjang Terminal have been revised. The works are now being conducted from 13 to 24 October.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s Port Marine Notice No.147 of 2012 dated 12 October, the works will be carried out 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
Working Area B2

  • 1) 01° 16.444’N / 103° 46.639’E
  • 2) 01° 16.306’N / 103° 46.870’E
  • 3) 01° 16.087’N / 103° 46.740’E
  • 4) 01° 16.225’N / 103° 46.509’E

Dredging works will be carried out by the grab dredger “Suez No.5” held in position by 2 spuds as anchors. The dredger, with hopper barge in attendance, will have a circular safety working zone of 50-metre radius centred at the dredger. Dredged materials will be transported to the designated dumping ground by the hopper barge assisted by pusher tugs.
During the operation, the dredger and hopper barge will be attended by tug boats when required.
Safety boats will be deployed in the vicinity to warn the other craft to keep clear of the working area.
Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

  • (a) Keep well clear of the safety working zone of the dredger;
  • (b) Maintain a proper lookout;
  • (c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
  • (d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 25 (Pasir Panjang Control); and
  • (e) Communicate with Pasir Panjang Control on VHF Channel 25 for assistance, if required.
