SHELTON, Conn. – Oct. 22, 2012 – (Marine NewsWire) Naiad Dynamics, an international manufacturer of ship motion control technologies, has received International Standards Organization (ISO) 9001 quality certification at its Connecticut facility.
The Quality Management System Certification from Orion Registrar, Inc. confirms that Naiad Dynamics meets the requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 standard.
“Even though Naiad Dynamics has more than 70 years experience supplying flight-critical aerospace parts to U.S. military-quality specifications, including MIL-I-45208, this new certification is an important step in our commitment to implement an ISO-compliant management system at our primary production facility in Connecticut, ” said John Venables, president of Naiad Dynamics. “Furthermore, we’re currently in the process of achieving the more stringent AS 9100 Quality Certification, which is particularly focused on rigorous aerospace quality requirements.”
The certification ensures that the company’s design, manufacturing, assembling, testing, installation and service procedures meet the highest quality standards. Additionally, the certification applies to Naiad Dynamics’ motion control, maneuvering, propulsion, steering and associated equipment and systems, including electro-hydraulic power packs and controls, as well as precision and production machining and manufacturing for all industries. Naiad’s UK facilities are also ISO 9001:2008 certified.
“Our production staff and overall plant practice the highest standards of processing procedures and control, ” Venables added. “Our ship stabilization products and systems for commercial and military vessels and large pleasure yachts are manufactured using the same personnel, machinery and processes we use for General Dynamics Electric Boat Division nuclear submarine parts; Lockheed Martin Sippican Division naval ship-based missile defense system parts; operating room medical parts; and United Technologies, Sikorsky Aircraft Division helicopter parts.”
The ISO 9001:2008 standard gives an organization the opportunity to increase the value of its activities and continually improve performance. Placing great emphasis on the connection between quality management systems and organizational processes, as well as the encouragement of a natural progression toward improved organizational performance, the standard directs users to the achievement of business results, including the satisfaction of customers and other interested parties.
