The Security Association for the Maritime Industry (SAMI), the global organisation representing the maritime security industry, is pleased to announce its attendance at the Seatrade Middle East Maritime Exhibition & Conference from 27-29th November 2012 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Representatives from the SAMI Secretariat will be in attendance at stand D17, Hall 5 in the SAMI Security Pavilion, and will be pleased to meet with members and visitors who have an interest in maritime security matters. The stand will be a hub for maritime security providers as well equipment, technology and hardware solutions through to those engaged in the security of the commercial shipping industry, Cruise, Superyacht, Offshore Oil & Gas sectors and Ports too.

It has been a time of rapid change and evolution in the maritime security industry, and SAMI Founder and Security Director Peter Cook will be on hand to discuss matters relating to rules for the use of force and the imminent launch of the new ISO Standard for armed guards, ISO28007.

The team will also be pleased to provide analysis and feedback on a range of issues, such as what may happen next with piracy, and the effect of the supposed down turn off Somalia as pirates suffer the combined effects of military and private security intervention. There will also be discussion on ship protection measures and the latest solutions being used to best effect off Somalia, and also other piracy problem areas such as West Africa and the Malacca Straits. While SAMI will also be demonstrating the online maritime security industry portal, the BRIDGE.

In addition to this, SAMI is supporting the release of the eagerly awaited new Maritime Security publication from the Nautical Institute – and on Thursday 29th November SAMI hosts a member’s reception and book launch at the Novotel World Trade Centre.

The book launch will be attended by leaders of the Middle East maritime community and shipping industry, and will provide an excellent opportunity to further the SAMI goal of bridging the gap between shipping and security.
