The Panama Canal Authority has issued Marine Advisory to Shipping No. A-29-2012 providing information on change issuance of PC SOPEP Notice of Acknowledgment.
In an effort to provide a better service and improve its efficiency, the Panama Canal Authority is in continuous review of its operational process. In addition, PCA is committed to reducing any adverse environmental impact of our operation. As a result, beginning January 1, 2013, Notice of Acknowledgement (NOA) certificates for vessels complying with PCSOPEP requirements will only be issued electronically.
Electronic certificates will be issued to the plan writers who provide the PCSOPEPs, who in turn may furnish said certificate to their client. Vessels will not be sanctioned for failure to carry a NOA certificate on board; however, masters are encouraged to have knowledge of their current PCSOPEP status.
For vessels scheduled to arrive or who have previously transited the Canal, PCSOPEP status may be reviewed through the Enhanced Vessel Transit Management System (EVTMS) or the Customer Service Management System (CSMS).
