Photo 1The Artwork Exhibition showcasing pieces completed by “HELMEPA Junior” Program members and titled “The seas, forests and mountains are our treasure”, has successfully concluded. It was hosted by the Municipality of Paleo  Faliro (Athens) at the “Flisvos” Cultural Centre between the 11th and 28th March.

The artworks displayed were the selected group efforts of children who had participated in the program’s annual Panhellenic drawing competitions over the last decade. Visitors to the Exhibition had the opportunity to not only admire the young artists’ creativity and imagination but also be moved by the means through which these youngsters conveyed their concerns about the future of our planet.

Besides the hundreds of locals who combined a stroll along the Paleo Faliro seaside with a call in to “Flisvos”, 850 students from local Primary Schools, accompanied by their 38 teachers, visited the Exhibit with costs covered by HELMEPA.

Photo 2Members of the HELMEPA team spoke to students about the importance of the oceans in our life, the threats to the marine environment, climate change, environmentally-friendly shipping and finally, the need for each and every one of us to contribute towards “CleanSeas and Beaches”.

HELMEPA warmly thanks the Municipality of Paleo   Faliro and Mayor Dionyssis Chatzidakis for kindly hosting the Exhibition and for its productive cooperation towards informing and raising the environmental awareness of both students and residents alike.
